Privacy policy

Effective October 6, 2026. This policy covers Eric Peterson’s personal Google Nest integration with Home Assistant for the McKenna Manor household.

Information accessed

With the account holder’s permission, the integration accesses authorized Nest device identifiers, names, room or home information, thermostat readings, settings, operating states, and device updates made available through Google’s Smart Device Management API. It also uses OAuth authorization tokens to maintain the connection.

How information is used

Information is used to display device status, operate authorized thermostats, and run household automations in Home Assistant. Google-derived information is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train artificial intelligence models.

Storage and access

Device data and authorization credentials are handled by the household’s Home Assistant system. Device states may be retained in its history and backups according to the system’s configuration. Access is limited to authorized household system users. Google processes API requests, and configured remote-access or backup services may process system data as part of providing those services.

This information website

These pages do not request Google authorization or display Nest device data. They do not include advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and secure the website.

Removing access and data

The account holder can revoke the integration’s access through Google’s account connections or Nest Partner Connections Manager. Removing the Nest integration from Home Assistant stops its use there. Existing device history and backups must be removed separately from the household system if deletion is desired.
